When did it start?
A long time ago. It was a little over 20 years since we first started cutting lawns with a push mower. I wouldn’t fancy doing it now at my age and how big some homes have gotten these days.
What was it that made you want to start this business?
You need to ask that question to a person who works outdoors? That’s the be all and end all of it. We get to work outdoors. We all love it, it’s so relaxing even if hard work.
What was the toughest thing you went through when opening?
Underestimating the weight of some of the things we needed to move. That and some of the upfront costs we had to make as a new company. Once we managed to set up a good relationship with suppliers, we were set.
If you had to start over from day 1 what would you have done differently?
I would have purchased more than one truck. We faced so many delays early on for going back and forth while we could have been working. It was wasting manpower and time. We got there in the end though.
What is the toughest part about having a business in 2017?
Everyone who has ever pushed a mower or watched us work thinks it’s easy. It’s far from it. Designing a garden landscape a customer falls in love with is super hard. Having the same vision takes ages.
If a customer was to choose between your business and 3 others just like it why would you suggest they at least give you a try first?
If anyone is going to choose a company for this, they might as well try one of the longest running landscaping companies in Vegas. We are not still going for no reason. We put in the work and get the desired results.
What is the number 1 way you currently bring in new customers?
We have a significant online presence which we push a lot. When there are trade shows, we make sure to include that on our blog and get referrals from suppliers. You know how it goes.
Has the Internet played a big role in your business as it has become more prevalent?
For sure. If it weren’t for the internet, we’d be spending a fortune on paper flyers, and they only tell half the story of the company. Being online we can update as much as we want.
If you had to look 6 months to a year into the future where would you like to see your business be?
Still working outdoors doing the thing we all enjoy. Creating custom landscapes come from a customer’s dreams, and them choosing us to perform the task is a dream come true.
